As mentioned in our opening sentence above, the need for security is obvious especially in these days. Why so? With the uncontrolled possibilities that the Internet can offer, who could say there is no more need for security in their business systems? It would just sound crazy if one claims and fights for security no more campaign. Computer viruses, crackers, and even hackers don’t respect anybody’s computer system. A computer virus may pass through all these and the Achilles Heel was not bestowed to you to be invulnerable to this risk.
While working in a home office environment, you certainly have business partners or affiliates within your supply chain customers, retailers, and suppliers. The Internet has already provided you an open interconnection. This interconnection allows you to perform business process dynamically and in real-time. But the chain is only as strong as the weakest link, remember? Yes, your business partners have proper security measures. But your business might be at risk once the security of either one of your partners is penetrated.
The need for home office security must be funded. Your risk management must not see this need as a no return asset. Think that the critical information from your customers, such as credit card numbers, is as important as your profits. Loosing this customers vital information may mean loosing your profit, even worse, your business.
