A majority of hot water tubs incur chemistry problems because of the improper diagnosis with test strips. Some people think that just by dipping them into the water, they will get an accurate prognosis of what’s wrong with the water in the hot tub or spa.

There is some truth to that. You can actually troubleshoot hot tub or spa problems on your own. The important thing you should be aware of is how to diagnose these properly and the steps you must take in order to fix the water problem.

For future resources, here is a run through of the possible solutions to water chemistry problems in the hot tub or spa.

1. You should always make sure that the water in your hot tub is safe. You may get a lot of tips online claiming that the safest hot tub water is less stringent. Nonetheless, it is highly recommended that the water be reduced to a low point in order for your family and yourself to enjoy your hut tub safely.

2. Purchase the chemicals you will need for your hot tub from the best store. Get them in pristine condition. Just make sure that you read the details of each chemical before you actually put it in your hot tub.

3. You have to test the chlorine levels and make sure that they fall in the range of 3 to 5 mg for every liter. This is the required dosage for every hot tub. Test the pH levels and check whether they are between the range of 7.2 to 7.6. If it doesn’t, then you have to toggle the hot tub pH content and meet these figures. If the water foams, then use the anti-foam. You can also go for the diluted form which comes in spray bottles. Spray them on the surface of the water.

4. You should put oxidizing agents like Calcium Hypochlorite or Non chlorine in your hot tub once every week. These clean the filter. You should also have spare filters which you use whenever you dry one. Notice that the fibers of the filter are bound together after you clean them.

Things to Remember if you have a Hot Tub
1. Calcium Hardness
You have to get the right calcium level in the water. The calcium levels depend on the source of water, where you get your supply and where you live. Soft water has low calcium while hard water has higher calcium. Each time you refill the tub with water, you have to check the calcium level.

Ideally, the calcium level that is appropriate for a tub ranges between 100 up to 200 mg for every liter. If the calcium level for the tub is less than this, then it might result in damage or corrosion. If you find that the level of calcium is lower than the range mentioned, then use products such as the Hot Tub Hardness Plus in order to increase the calcium level up to the ideal.

If the level of your hot tub is way above than the ideal, then the results will be cloudy water. You can deposit the excess calcium on the heater element, tub shell, filter cartridge or in the pipe. You can also use the product No Scale in order to bring it to the calcium level you prefer.

2. Alkalinity
This depends on where you get your water. You should always check whether fresh water has been added. Ideally, Alkalinity for the hot tub ranges between 125 up to 500 mg per liter. If this stays in this range, then the water doesn’t fluctuate. If it drops, then the water becomes corrosive and causes damage on the equipment. We therefore suggest you use the product pH plus in order to increase the alkaline level.

However, if the alkaline level is higher than the ideal, then the water is not that clear and scales slowly form. In order to reduce this, we recommend ph Minus.

3. pH Levels
It’s important that you check the hot tub ph level on a regular basis. Use the Test Strips that you can buy over the counter at your local drug stores. Ideally, the pH range equates 7.4 up to 7.6. The alkaline protects the equipment and provides an ideal condition for the users because of its sanitizing effect.

There truly is nothing more relaxing than taking a dip in a warm and relaxing bath in a luxurious Jacuzzi. It seems like every minute spent in that tub is heaven, distressing your mind and rejuvenating your soul. What is even greater is you can enjoy the bath with a loved one outside or inside your home.

There is no need to go out of your house and spend moneygetting that wonderful right-off-the-spa feeling. Why don’t you just purchase a Jacuzzi spa so you and your loved ones can enjoy the many health benefits and relaxation you can get by having your own Jacuzzi spa. If you have no idea what you are looking for, keep reading

1. Jacuzzis are installed permanently so you have to carefully study your house or backyard where you want it installed. First, you need to determine the space for your tub and then buy a tub that will fit into that space. Once you have done that, have a floor drain installed for proper drainage.

2. If you plan to share the Jacuzzi with everyone in the family, choose one that has user-friendly controls especially for the temperature. The most comfortable warmth is 40 degrees Celsius so choose a control knob that can be controlled a little higher or lower than that temperature.

3. If you plan to have a movable Jacuzzi hot tub setup, why not get one that is inflatable? It comes with its own drainage hose and a hygienic filter. It mechanically inflates in only 10 minutes and has a temperature control as well.

4. Enjoyment and relaxation aren’t the only reasons why you should get a Jacuzzi hot tub. Did you know that people with injuries or certain diseases like stroke, can benefit greatly from these tubs? Immersing in a tub full of warm water and doing certain exercises can prove to be therapeutic for most patients and can take the place of hydrotherapy in physical therapy clinics. Most of the time, though, medical assistance is needed in cases such as these.

5. Jacuzzi spas can be as pretty as you want them to be. If you want a Jacuzzi hot tub that will match the theme of your house, choose a design with certain preferred specifications like lighting, cabinetry, covers and others.

There’s nothing more exciting as setting up a Jacuzzi hot tub in the comforts of your home. It could very well be one of the hottest crazes in home improvement. Put quality in your life by buying a Jacuzzi hot tub. You know that you deserve it so don’t hesitate, get one today!

When you say optional automation the first thing that comes to mind is a Timer. A timer is a kind of clock that can control a process or an event. It ranges form being mechanical to digital, electromechanical to software. Almost everything comes with a timer from watches to cellular phones, from computers to television.

Mechanical timers use mechanisms applied in clocks like escapement and springs in order to pick up the pace when it comes to the speed. If it is inaccurate, these mechanisms are said to be cheap and it is better to use a timer that is able to resist this. An example is the mechanical egg timer.

The accurate mechanism of a timer resembles those small alarm clocks. The advantage of these timers is hat they don’t need a battery or electricity. They can also be stored for a long time. The most common application of this kind of automation control are bombs and explosives.

The Two types of Electromechanical Timers
1. Thermal type
It has a metal finger that comes with various rates of expansion. The most common are the bronze and steel. The process involves the electric current flowing through and heating it. A side expands making the other side shorter. There is contact on the other end and it moves away from the switch contact. The most common application are the flashers that turn the signals in cars. It is also applied in Christmas lights.

2. Cam Timer
This kind uses a small motor that is synchronous and turns the cam through the switch contacts. This contraption, referred to as the AC motor, is always turned on and by alternating the current, it becomes an accurate rate. Power companies regulate these kinds of timers. This slow the motor to the desired speed and turns the cam on. The most popular application are those in dishwashers, driers and washing machines. This kind of timer comes with a friction clutch between the cam and the gear train. Therefore, the cam can be reset at any time.

Electromechanical timers are really popular because they are less expensive when compared to the mechanical switch conducts. They are also cheaper than those devices that have to be controlled by heaters, motors and power lights.

Before, mechanical timers were used in electric relays in order to guild controllers powered through electro-mechanical contraptions. These electromechanical timers reached a state that were very extensive and eventually were applied in weapons systems and aerospace. Thanks to these electromechanical timers that can be controlled and programmed, launching of sequence events, rockets and missiles were made possible.

What are Digital Timers?
Digital timers are more precise compared to mechanical timers. They have integrated circuits that come with digital logic which is inexpensive. Therefore, an electronic and digital timer is cheaper than electromechanical and mechanical timers.

It is cheaper because it only needs a single chip. It is like that of a watch. The technology conducted in these devices are simpler than those of electromechanical appliances. However, most timers have software to implement their functions. The modern timer controllers resort to logic that is programmable instead of a box that is filled with parts that are electromechanically but quite complicated for the layman. The logic behind this is that the digital timer is designed to be simple. Digital timers are also safer than the mechanical and electromechanical timers. An application of the digital timer is the gas timer.

Air Switches and Wireless Controls
Most spas have electronic timers. Usually, they are digital counters that are controlled by the software. Their count down reaches zero. The minute it does, then the heater goes off.

The popular timers for spas and hot tubs are the air switches which provides the remote control. All you need to do is to push the button that is connected to the mechanism. This is flexible enough to allow the user to operate the hot tubs pump and blow up to 75 feet. Also, these models are round the clock and has a multiple timer which turns from one to two speed pump.

Finally, there is the field control operations that is very perfect for irrigation and lighting. These are also perfect for hot tubs and spas. They are also used in green houses, parking lots, traffic control, mostly for outdoor use.

Cleaning your hot tub is mandatory since your tub is a breeding ground for bacteria that could cause diseases. Legionella and Pseudomonas bacteria are some that lurk in a dirty hot tub. Legionella bacteria can cause a fatal disease called Legionnaires disease. Meanwhile, Pseudomonas can trigger skin rashes, pneumonia, and eye infections.

Get that laziness out of your system and clean your hot tub! Here are some guidelines and instructions on how to clean your hot tub.

Replace your water once a month

Have you ever seen a pool where the water was not replaced in a year? It could get dark and muddy from dirt. As for hot tub, you can get the same results when you let the water stay for a long time. So replace it once a month and no longer. Dirt and bacteria can stay in the water for a long time which could harm you and your family. Safe and clean water is always the best.

Scrub, scrub, and rinse!

After draining the water from the tub, don’t just refill it with clean water! The real place for bacteria to lurk into is on the walls and the floor. Get your cleanser, whether a recommended cleanser for hot tubs or a bleach solution. Get your muscles going by scrubbing the walls to release the dirt. Also include the surfaces and the deck on scrubbing to maintain a clean tub once someone dips in.

After the scrubbing is done, rinse the walls and floor with water. Make sure no bleach solution remains since it could produce bubbles in the hot tub water or make the water muddy and unclear.

Put disinfectants. Read: Chlorine

Chlorine is the most popular disinfectant used in hot tubs and in pools. They reduce the harmful effects of water for the users safety. It is recommended to put chlorine tablets in the tub once a week for it to be fully sanitized.

Clean the filters

The filters should be cleaned once every two weeks, especially when the hot tub is used regularly. The filter can be cleaned by using a garden hose and spraying the filter to remove unwanted dirt. You can also use commercial cleaning solutions after rinsing it with water. These filters should be replaced once a year.

Hot tubs are most enjoyable to dip in when they are in their cleanest state. You can soak without worry and let the troubles and all your problems slip away as you relax with the massage provided by your hot tub.

For ages, people have been getting benefits from hot water therapy. Barrel-shaped containers made of wood were typically used in the past. An advantage of using wood as a container is that it has the capability of resisting rotting and decay. Barrel-making techniques are still being used by people in making hot tubs.

Benefits of using wood fired hot tubs
Modernized hot tubs have the same extravagance of today’s spas, with jets, pumps, filters, and gas or electric heaters. These wood fired hot tubs are usually made of cedar oak, redwood, or teak because of their ability to resist rotting. Not only are wood fired hot tubs geometrically captivating, the grains and the rich colors of wood are visually appealing with a natural beauty.

In addition, since a hot tubs main objective is to make you feel relaxed, wood-fired hot tubs also provide another benefit over hot tubs made of artificial products. They emanate a cool natural aroma when they contain constant hot water. More specifically, cedar offers an amazing scent and is also the best in remaining watertight.

How to heat a wood fired hot tub
Making this tub hot is easy. It doesn’t take many things before you can get inside and enjoy the refreshing sensation. Besides a heater, water, some fuel which would probably be wood, oil, coal diesel or propane to make the water hot and steamy in the tub. Using fifteen pounds of wood would do the trick although it may seem like a lot, it is actually one of the cheapest and most efficient ways of heating a hot tub.

Getting your wood-fired hot tub to work
So how does this type of hot tub work? A wood-fired hot tub requires a particular type of water which is designed for burning wood. Also, this hot tub doesn’t need a circulating pump to keep the water moving and heated. Instead, as the water starts to heat up, a spontaneous pumping action is created causing the water to move throughout the tub.

Moreover, since you don’t need additional gadgets and chemicals, wood-fired hot tubs need very little maintenance. In effect, you don’t have to spend much for a longer period of time aside from purchasing the wood. The initial cost however, will involve a payment for the preparation of a suitable foundation for your hot tub. So, if you are on the verge of putting up a hot tub in the comfort of your own home, then installing a wood-fired hot tub might just do the trick.

If you were to scrutinize the design of a spa, you would notice that the basic element would be the pipes, which could be the source either water or steam. This is the same element that is absent in portable spas and tubs, because in these models you no longer need to have a permanent source of water. The only thing that would be indispensable is the source of electricity.

Spa piping and circulation system
Putting in place a spa or pool circulation arrangement involves not only filters, disinfection tools and pumps. All of those elements should be attached to a piping system. Ideally, states along with local codes demand that the materials to be used must be licensed to ANSI/NSF Standard 14 which covers the clean water products.

Piping certification procedure
The licensing procedure done for plastic piping materials has several common elements which are also employed in the certification of the spa and pool circulation apparatuses. The program includes the unexpected audit of the product resources, the launching of minimum quality control prerequisites and of course the yearly testing in order to confirm the sustained compliance of the product.

The actual process
Throughout the inspection of the production service, a NSF crew validates that every element of the product and the procedure that is employed for the creation of the product observe the requisites of the NSF and Standard certification principles.

The validation includes the evaluation of the particular preparation information on the substances that are used to create the by product. The auditor is also responsible in conducting a physical assessment of some products which are currently created and on the process of inventory. These materials would be tested in NSF laboratories.

Maintenance
The maintenance of your spa’s piping system should be included in your ongoing cost budget. Together with the chemicals which you must determine the amount beforehand, where they should be bought and the estimate cost of the chemicals. Filters, electricity, water costs and the repair costs are also included together with the maintenance of the piping system.

Overall, it isn’t appalling to invest on some features which will surely make the spa last longer and in the end assure you absolute relaxation. For if taken care of accordingly, home spas are a good investment which could help raise the cost of your home.

In the market for a hot tub? You could spend more money if you don’t know what to look for and all that hot tub and spa terminology can be a bit confusing. Here is a simple buying guide to help you with the basics of the hot tub:

Size
Decide on the location of your hot tub and see how big the area is. If the room is already built, you will have to make sure that the hot tub will fit through the door of its intended area before buying it. Buying the biggest hot tub may not always be the best thing to do.

Consider its location, too. Is there a concrete slab available or will you have to build one? Can that area withstand the weight of the tub and the water once it’s filled? How many people will be sitting in the tub for a soak? Will it be comfortable enough?

The hot tub
Now that you’ve decided on its size, it’s time to choose your hot tub. The inner lining or shell is usually made of materials such as thermoplastic or acrylic to withstand the heat and weight of the water. Either material is a good choice.

Inner linings also come in different colors and finishes. You can choose from plain finished shells or simulated black marble hot tubs. If you prefer, you can also choose hot tubs made with ceramic tiles.

Check the controls that come with the hot tub. A remote-controlled tub is more convenient to use. Waterproof floating remote controls are excellent for making adjustments to the water temperature, lighting and the jet action. If you prefer, you can also choose hot tubs with built-in controls.

Before buying your hot tub, check the pumps, filter system and heater as well. The pump is responsible for water circulation. It also pushes the water through the filtration system and ensures that water temperature is even. Buy a hot tub with an efficient filtration system and make sure the heater is reliable as well.

If you prefer, buy one with an ozonator to help maintain the cleanliness of the water. If you buy one without an ozonator, your hot tub will still be efficient, provided you maintain a regular cleaning schedule and ensure that the filtration system is working properly.

There are also hot tubs that come with certain amenities such as lighting, exercise equipment, water misters and entertainment systems. They will be more expensive but they can enhance your hot tub experience significantly.

Lastly, before buying that dream hot tub, check the warranty to see if it is reasonable enough to offer you protection as a consumer.

If you need spa equipment for your business or for personal use and if you are extremely busy, buy the spa equipment online. Hot tubs and water-proof sound equipment are the hottest in spa equipment these days. Whether you’re on a limited budget or the sky is the limit budget, buying online would be a good choice. Here are some tips and tricks in buying spa equipment online.

Is my budget enough for my spa equipment?

In buying online, there are a LOT of stores to choose from. Not all stores are the same, however. There are some which offer second-hand equipment and some have varying prices. Research and canvassing can be done without a hassle. This isn’t a taxing experience at all, compared to personally going to the stores.

If you are on a budget but want a complete set of spa equipment, you might try second-hand equipment. As I’ve said, there are tons of online stores and you can find a second-hand store on the Internet.

However, don’t rely too much on the price if you are going for quality. Search for price guarantees for items available online. There are some sites which offer factory-direct equipment. This means that the store only sells products they make.

Look out for the guarantees

Look out for guarantees or returns for the product to ensure maximum quality and to determine the stores aim to satisfy the customer. This is a good sign that a store isn’t just going to run away or ignore you after you’ve purchased their product. Know what the guarantees cover with the product. Furthermore, determine how you can get free service from the guarantees. Also, is it realistic enough for the customer to use their service.

Looking on the website itself

The best spa equipment shopping websites offer a simple navigation and easy buy and checkout methods. The website also gives a clear view on the categories and prices of each product. This means that the online store is serious about pleasing the customer by providing a functional website for the buyer.

Shipping fees

Shipping fees add to the overall cost of what you buy online. Shipping fees could be based on the weight or the volume of the product. Oftentimes, the better option is per volume of the product since it would be a better deal for really heavy items. Paying for this is no problem at all since in a typical store, you pay for sales tax, but on online stores, you don’t.

Buying online could be tough because of the Internet risks, but it definitely is heaven in terms of going shop to shop with just a tap of your finger.

So you’ve finally decided to get yourself a spas or hot tubs for your personal relaxation and comfort. You have read up on its benefits and what it can do for you and other members of your family. With such a purchase at hand, you will definitely need to find the right kind of spa or hot tub that you and other members of your family can use easily. How do you decide on a spa or hot tub for your home? What are the factors you should consider when purchasing one?

Its More than Just Relaxation

It can be a pretty daunting task to choose one from such a wide range of choices and the factors that come into play when choosing which one is best suited for you. One of the more important factors you might need to consider when thinking about buying a hot tub or a spa is what you will be using it for. Sure, it is for relaxation and stress relief, but is it purely for that or is there another reason why you are purchasing one? These hot tubs are often seen as a great way to build friendships and relationships since the relaxing atmosphere that it generates helps people let their guard down thereby enabling people tog get to know each other better because they are more comfortable and relaxed. If you are thinking of using your spa or hot tub for recreational or leisure purposes as well, then you will also need to factor that in to your reasons for buying one.

The Numbers Involved

Once you have established your general reasons for purchasing a hot tub or a spa, you will then need to consider the location of such a spa. This can be decided upon based on the reasons you have for purchasing one. If it is for personal use, you can have it installed inside your bathroom or outside your own personal living quarters on a personal patio or area that you can use for your alone time. You can also use this kind of a setup for those times when you want to use the spa or hot tub with someone special. If you are, however, planning on having a spa or hot tub for recreational use that may include friends and family, it would then be advisable for you to have it installed outdoors, like in your backyard or on the back porch of your home. This consideration for the location of your spa or hot tub will also generate the question of the tub’s size and seating capacity. For the more recreational friends and family tub choice, you may opt to choose the bigger tubs that can seat at least four people comfortably in its depths. If it is meant for personal comfort and relaxation, you are then better off with one with two seats for your bathroom or personal area. There are also single seat spas and hot tubs you can find on the market, however, these kinds of tube leaves very little room for other uses you might need.

When Price Matters

After all these considerations, the next most important selection obstacle is the price. While this may be a little less of a concern for people who have a surplus amount of cash, there are people who do have tight budgets when it comes to this expense. Finding the right kind of tub for your exact purpose and your budget can be one of the most taxing parts of the selection process yet this is where you can further narrow the list down. Doing a little comparison shopping among the tub manufacturers that have the kind of hot tub or spa you want can help you further narrow down your choices to the few that you will eventually consider buying. After you have narrowed down the choices, you can then call these manufacturers and ask them about installation. Is it free, are there additional charges, how soon can you have it installed and when can you expect to be able to use it once its installed?

These are just some of the questions you will need to ask to finally determine which spa or hot tub will have the honor of giving you that relaxing and rejuvenating soak.

The spa is probably one of the best inventions we have learned from the Europeans. It’s relaxing, refreshing and when used properly, can be quite healthy. However, it does involve equipment that can cause certain hazards and health risks. Here are certain safety reminders and considerations you should keep in mind when using your home spa:

The risk of drowning
The home spa poses nearly the same risk in drowning as a swimming pool, especially with very young children. To avoid this, build your home spa in a safe location and never allow children near it unless they are supervised. To ensure safety, use a spa cover with a locking device after use.

Slipping
Use non-skid floors or surfaces around the spa and install a towel bar nearby so you can dry your hands and feet immediately. Lighting should be relaxing but provide adequate illumination at the same time.

Most experts also recommend using the spa with a companion. Soaking alone may be more relaxing but having someone around may come in handy if one of you needs help.

Overheating
One safety hazard that home spas present is overheating. Install a thermometer and make sure it’s working. To prevent hyperthermia, a condition where body temperature rises, maintain water temperature at about 100 degrees F to 104 degrees F.

Hyperthermia can cause a feeling of sleepiness that can lead to unconsciousness. If you slip, you can even drown. Once you start feeling sleepy or uncomfortable, get out of the tub immediately. Don’t stay too long in the water; 15 minutes of soaking should be enough. If children are using the spa, let them stay for only 10 minutes or less and keep the water temperature at 95 degrees F or lower.

Avoid drinking alcohol or taking drugs while using your home spa. Your sense of balance may be affected and you could slip and fall or hurt your head.

Electrocution
Water and electric appliances don’t mix. If you have hair dryers, electric hair curlers, cordless phones and other electric device inside the spa room, keep them at a safe distance from the tub.

Chemical use
Chemicals and additives used in your home spa should be kept safely away, in a dry, cool, dark, well ventilated area where only adults can reach them. Install a storage cabinet for this purpose. Use the chemicals according to manufacturer’s directions.

Home spa suction
Preferably, a home spa should have two suction drains for every pump. This will minimize the suctioning power of the drain so there is no danger of getting pulled in. Ensure that these drains are working efficiently for your home spa safety.

It is so easy to maintain the spa in your home. You can have the same luxury as what you get in a five-star hotel as long as you know how to maintain them. We are talking about the modern spa made of fiberglass.

For a newbie owning a spa, there are so many important things to know. Take for example the kind of spa and hot tubs out there, which varies depending on the heater that you use, as well as the water that you use.

Here are some basic heating tips for your spa.
1. Use an econo-mode and turn the thermometer to whichever you deem comfortable so that you will be able to save energy. You can turn it up before you get in.

2. Use test strips in order to adjust the chemical levels of your spa and your bath tub. Compare these strips with the chart that comes in the container. Practice makes perfect and soon enough, you will notice that you can manage your spa by yourself. You don’t need an expert to do the work for you.

3. Make sure that the cover is tight on your spa in order to prevent letting out the heat. The newer the cover, the better its insulation will be. This will also help you cut back on the energy bill.

4. You have to condition the spa or the hot tub at least once a month. This prolongs the life by protecting it from elements like the suns rays. It also prevents the vinyl from cracking and hardening.

5. Leave the heater of your hot tub on all the time. This equips the circulating pumps and it allows the circulation of the water to take place. It also prevents the water from building up. The algae are also filtered and it cleans the water.

6. Wipe the spa with polish in order to give it a protective coat. After cleaning the filer, make sure that all debris has been removed.

Gas-fueled heaters vs. Electric heaters
Now if you’re thinking of getting new water heater for your spa, you might ask yourself whether you should get the gas-fueled heater or the electric heater. The natural gas seems to be more than half of the water heaters and electricity heats what is left behind. A minor percentage of heaters burn up the propane, kerosene or oil. Some use solar collectors or wood heat in order to heat the water.

The key is to check whether natural gas is there. If yes, then the water heater must be gas-fueled. Electricity heaters are only considered when natural gas isn’t available, making it impossible for the water to run through the roof and conduct heat through the combustion emissions. Take note that gas is faster and cheaper in heating water. So propane, oil and kerosene aren’t as convenient as gas.

If you have a water heater that is electric and you want to make the most out of the economy by using propane or natural gas, then check whether your electric heater is capable of extracting the existing heat in the water. You can do this by turning the heater on in the storage tank. You will see that there is a heating unit that is mounted through the wall. You do not need a bent. It is already connected to the tank and the water line. The gas is directly piped through the new heating system. The unit is then three times the capacity of an electric water heater.

If you are a proud owner of a spa or a hot tub, you should also know that there are two kinds of gas logs.
1. Liquid Propane is a gas that has more carbon compared to natural gas. It burns three times because it is thrice hotter than the latter. This is the very reason why LP Gas tanks must be placed outside the house.
2. Natural Gas is lighter than air and it dissipates once it has been released. It doesn’t burn as fast when compared to the other gases. It is also cheaper. This must be piped to an appliance.

Your hot tub is built to be tough and durable, able to withstand all that heat and weight but without proper maintenance, it won’t be long before you’ll need to replace it. Avoid this unnecessary expense and use these simple maintenance tips to prolong the life of your hot tub so you can enjoy its benefits longer:

Know your hot tub.
Your hot tub comes with the manufacturer’s instruction manual. Read this guide before using your hot tub and try to familiarize yourself with your particular tub system. Hot tubs might have the same use but not all of them have the same functions. Try to learn about how your unit works.

Learn to identify your tub’s pump, heater, control box, timer, thermostat and filter. Familiarize yourself with how it’s supposed to work, look and sound so if anything goes wrong, you will be able to tell immediately.

Clean your filtration system.
Your filtration system is the main hot tub component that keeps the water clean and safe. If you’re a regular hot tub user, clean your filters regularly; at least once or twice a week. At first, your filtration system will do an excellent job at making sure your water is good to use. Over time, the filters will start to degrade even with regular cleaning. Replace your filters after about 10 to 12 months.

Check your heater and pumps regularly.
Part of your hot tub maintenance schedule should be to inspect your heater and pumps to ensure that they are working properly. If you notice any deficiency in performance, such as when water temperature becomes too cold or too hot even when controls are set or if water is not drained properly, check these components immediately. It is much easier to correct a problem with your equipment early on than to wait until it breaks down. If you are unfamiliar with the problem, call your manufacturer or have your hot tub serviced immediately.

Clean your hot tub.
One of the reasons why you should be conscious of the maintenance of your hot tub is water safety. Test the water regularly to determine its pH level. Apart from the fact that the inappropriate pH level can affect your skin, it can also promote corrosion of the heater coil. Once the coil is corroded, the heater will become inefficient in producing heat. Test your water at least once weekly. You might also want to change your water every 8 to 12 weeks, depending on use.

Relaxing need not be done in a single place like spa centers, because now you can purchase your own portable spa and relax in the comfort of your own home. If you think that everything ends the moment that you have decided to purchase your portable spa, then you are wrong because this is only the beginning of endless decision making and reasonable organization of several elements.

Basic things of spas

As you are faced with a number of attributes, arrangements, models and fixtures, it would seem quite formidable to study every single possibility and decide the best formation for your requirements.

You can start with your search as you browse over the net and familiarize yourself with the terms that you may encounter as you are choosing your portable spa. Of course, you must start with the characteristic of a portable spa which is best described as a home spa or tub that is pre-manufactured and usually rests on top of the ground.

The real characteristics and size of the spa differ extensively, because there are small tubs which weigh around a hundred pounds and can be raised with ease. While there are larger tubs which are more or less a thousand pounds and will require specific installation assistance and some electric wiring help.

Considering your needs

While searching for the perfect portable spa on the net you might stumble into several specifications that include, the number of persons which can be accommodated by the spa, the therapy benches and seats, and the jet system of the spa which involves the power circulation.

There are also offers which provide the users with electronic controls, the water cleansing arrangement, the filtration systems, the covers, some fountains and there are also some which contain a fixed stereo system.

Thinking about the costs

This factor should be among your utmost consideration when you intend to consider your spa as an investment. You have to know the initial set of costs and the ongoing costs to be able to know how much money to budget.

At this point you may be enlightened that there are many choices as you install a portable spa. You need to be reminded that the best spas aren’t the ones which are filled with various fixtures but it is significant that you choose the most suitable spa for your preferences and wants.

Tubs, whirlpools, and spas which ones are the best? Here are some tips to help you in choosing and finding the best retailer:

What to Consider When Purchasing a Hot Tub

Nothing beats resting in the luxury of hot water after a very tiring day. But do you know what you need to buy or even how to choose your retailer?

1. Know where you’re going to place the hot tub. You can use accessibility, privacy, and overall interior design as your deciding factors.

2. The floor should be able to hold at least 100 to 150 pounds of hot water. You need all the strength the concrete slab can muster.

3. Choose the hot tubs size according to how many are going to use it. To calculate for the overall water capacity, multiply the number of people with 75 gallons of water.

4. Know the limit of your budget. Usually, hot tubs good for two are priced around $4,000 while $8,000 is a good starting cost for tubs for six. Go for tubs with full insulation as they can help you save energy.

5. Acrylic hot tubs are much easier to clean and last longer than fiberglass. Those made of wood are beautiful but are harder to maintain. If you like to go for something cheaper, settle for vinyl hot tub, which is priced around $2,500.

6. Test the product. A really good retailer will allow you to try the hot tubs located in showrooms. Listen to the noise level of the water jets as well as the accessibility and ease of use of its controls.

What to Consider When Purchasing a Whirlpool

Don’t you love the therapeutic feel of gushing water in whirlpool baths? Indeed, its like getting close to heaven when you’re in the comfort of your own bathroom. But how do you really choose a whirlpool?

1. Select the tub system you like. Air comes in and out of small holes through air-jet tubs to generate bubbling action. Meanwhile, water passes through at most 8 huge jets to create tough massaging action. Smaller jets can massage your back, feet, and neck.

2. Know where to install the tub. Five-feet tubs are much easier to set up than the others. You can place in between walls the recess-mount tubs, while deck-mount tubs are perfect on any tiled platform or floor. Corner tubs are ultimate space savers.

3. Water heaters should be big enough to fill two-thirds of hot water into your tub. Whirlpool tubs can hold from 95 to 560 liters of water, depending on its size.

4. Know which model to go for. Enameled cast iron is known to be very strong yet heavy. Molded acrylic, meanwhile, resists stain better than fiberglass tubs.

5. Recognize if you need a self-cleaning system. Water is re-circulated in whirlpool tubs and thus they may need constant cleaning. There are a number of air-jet systems that can remove residue automatically once you are done using them.

6. Determine your budget. Prices can range from $1,000 to over $20,000. This depends on the size, materials, tub system, and other options available.

What to Consider When Purchasing a Spa

Spas can definitely rejuvenate any weary soul. However, they can cost you a lot if you don’t take heed of these tips:

1. Don’t settle for jet counts alone. Its nice to have as many jets as you can in the spa, yet there are still numerous components you need to consider, such as seat comfort, insulation, jet placement, construction quality. Normally, companies will include in the total jet count the air jets. Others focus on using smaller jets instead of quality construction and hydrotherapy. You’ll end up paying for something with less build quality and comfort.

2. Shop for spas. Don’t rely on the spas specifications alone. Instead, add to it the insulation, construction quality, and other details that may not be expressly stated in brochures.

3. Check for energy efficiency. Normally, heat retention capability is the main component in determining its operating costs. Those that can stop heat from escaping would cost less to operate than others.

Indeed, costs should be commensurate to comfort. You can only achieve that if you choose wisely.

No hot tub is complete without the motor and pump that make it run and work the way it does. These are the parts that help make these hot tubs different from your ordinary tubs or pools of water that don’t give you that stress relieving and relaxing soak that hot tubs and spas give you. The choices in motors and pumps that you can use in your hot tubs and spas may be those that have been built into them or those that are actually replacement pumps for your hot tubs and spas.

Why Its Important to Know Motors and Pumps

While you can choose your spa or hot tub according to its motor as well, there are times when the tub you choose doesn’t have the kind of pump or motor you want but the shape and size you desire. You can actually install a different pump or motor to your existing tub as long as you know the steps involved. There are a few different kinds of motors and pumps you can use to replace your existing hot tub or spa pump with and knowing the parts of these motors and pumps will further help you understand how it works and how to successfully replace or install them.

Common Motor and Pump Parts

The parts that you can find on tubs and their mechanisms include the wet ends, the motors, seals, impellers and a whole lot more. All these parts are important to the successful activation of your hot tub or spa. The pump wet end is the mechanism that is found at the end of your water pump and on this pump is where you find the impeller that sucks the water from the water source and pushes it into the tub with the force needed to create the jets that are for relaxation. A shaft seal is the seal that is used to help keep the water from going into the motor that keeps the pump going and your hot tub or spa running the way it should. There are a few seal kits available on the market and each seal kit and shaft seal is built to fit certain pump specifications to truly keep water out of the motor of your spa or hot tub. If you need to replace your spa’s shaft seal, you will need to know what your exact spa motor or pump is for you to be able to get the right one that will fit it and stop any leaks.

When Do You Need to Replace Them

A lot of people who have older tubs that have motors that are weaker than their present day counterparts often buy newer and stronger motors to replace the ones that they already have. This is usually when the tub they have is still in good working condition and in pretty good shape. If both the tub and the pump are in bad shape, it would probably be best if they got a newer model spa that comes with a new motor and pump rather than to simply buy a new motor for a rather beat up old spa or hot tub.

DIY Motors and Pumps

For those who are fond of building things from scratch or love doing DIY projects, they can actually find instructions on certain websites on the construction of such tubs as well as the installation of the pumps, motors, hoses and other necessary parts needed for the operation of the hot tubs. You can also find a wide array of pump motors for your spa at spa spare part websites in the different spa pump hp selections that you can choose from. Some of the pump motors that you can find include the .75 hp pump motors, the 1.0 and 1.5 hp pump motors and the bigger 2.0 hp pump motors. These pump motors can be bought in a wide array of motor brands and prices.

While you can actually replace your spa pump motor on your own with the use of a few easy steps that includes the replacement of the impeller as well and the removal of the wet end from the other motor parts, you can be better off with buying a completely new set that can last you longer that a self rebuilt pump motor.

Hot tubs are well-known for their drum shape. These watertight containers allow a maximum of up to one thousand gallons of water and can usually contain up to twelve people.
What is wholesaling
Wholesaling actually refers to the sale of goods to retailers, to commercial, industrial, or other professional business dealers. In accordance with United Nations Statistics Division, wholesale is a sale without change of new and used products to retailers or any other business dealers acting as means in buying goods for, or selling goods to customers and other companies. Wholesalers often pull together, sort and rate goods in large quantities and redistribute in smaller quantities.

How is wholesaling of hot tubs done
With more companies manufacturing hot tubs, competition is relatively high. Most of these companies sell their products to their affiliated retailers so customers may feel, see and try hot tubs before they decide in buying them. In addition, for those customers who’ve purchased wholesale hot tubs, they are rest assured by the manufacturer that they will obtain quality service.

Before, hot tub wholesalers made their products available to their affiliated retailers and dealers because these were the most efficient ways to get them to the consumers. However, with the rise of online selling, many manufacturers have joined a number of other manufacturing companies who sell their products directly to their consumers. These manufacturing companies sell their hot tubs at wholesale prices.

While most of the hot tub manufacturers are in online business, another mode of selling is still the traditional way because once a hot tub leaves their facility, they know that the customer is on his own and any problems regarding the item will be blamed directly on the manufacturer. They see that by selling wholesale to a dealer or retailer and working personally with these business affiliations, they can guarantee that customers will be satisfied with their products thereby preserving their reputation.

Why it is good to own a hot tub
While purchasing a hot tub at a wholesale price is quite an accomplishment, getting inside the tub is more satisfying. It would definitely be great for people who would like to relax after a hard days work in the office.

Modern bathrooms are equipped with the most comfortable and most reliable bathing amenities. Home owners almost always make sure that their bathrooms are as cozy as ever so that total relaxation will be facilitated as they clean their bodies. In the past, bathrooms comprised of showers and tubs. Now, there are more equipment that are being added to make the bathing experience more worthwhile and effective. The whirlpool tub is one of those amenities.

Why do homeowners install whirlpool tubs into their bathrooms? The answer is simple. They want to get a complete cleaning and relaxing experience at the same time while they are bathing. However, no matter how helpful and cozy the fixture is, it isn’t exempt from getting dirty. Here is a simple procedure that will facilitate an effective and convenient cleaning of the equipment.

1.Start with the whirlpool totally drained of any water. Turn off the jets to make sure no air induction is present.
2.Slowly fill the whirlpool tub with hot or lukewarm water. Make sure the water level reaches the top of the jets. As always, you shouldn’t pump seats and jets without water because doing so would certainly damage that important part of the whirlpool tub. Warm water is better in cleansing smooth or even rough ceramic surfaces off with dirt.
3.When the whirlpool tub is almost filled with warm water, add about 4 ounces of any brand of household bleaching product. On top of that, add 2 full tablespoons of detergent powder to the warm water.
4.Operate the whirlpool and open the air control fully. Do so for 15 minutes. Doing so would help circulate the detergent solution so that the walls of the tub will be cleaned of any dirt and impurities.
5.Drain the warm water off. After that, refill the whirlpool tub this time with clean and cold tap water. Again, run or operate the jets for about 5 to 10 minutes additional.
6.After the above procedures, quickly drain the cold water. Notice the difference the action did to the surface of the ceramic whirlpool tub.
7.To complete the procedure, wipe dry the tubs surface with a clean and soft piece of cloth. Let it stand for a few hours before using again.

It is imperative to clean the whirlpool tub with the above procedure at least twice every month. That will definitely help prevent growth and accumulation of bacteria and other dirt across the surface of the whirlpool tub. There you have it. Now, you can use the whirlpool tub again anytime you like.

So what are they really: spas, hot tubs, or whirlpools? Perhaps you’ve been totally confused and it’s making it very hard for you to pick which one will suit you best. So what’s the real difference between all these?

Before There Was Whirlpool

In the olden times, whirlpools were actually spas. These were usually concrete either tiled or painted. They were first installed in hotels, a few houses, and health clubs during the 1960s. However, these types were so costly because of the materials used as well as the cost of labor. Thus, mass production was very limited.

Birth of Hot Tubs

It was during in the middle of 1970s when young California entrepreneurs decided to convert their old wooden barrels of wine into portable whirlpools which they could place on the ground. They were called hot tubs. However, despite being so affordable, they were a lot of leaks, especially days after these tubs were installed. Because of these problems, as well as the cost of plumbing repairs, they became just as expensive as whirlpools.

What Is Jacuzzi and Airbath?

A popular brand name for the whirlpool bath, a specific kind of hydro massage bath, is Jacuzzi. Airbath, on the other hand, is a well-known name of air spa manufacturers.

How Do You Differentiate a Whirlpool and an Air Spa?

The whirlpool removes water from the bath and circulates it all over the outside of the bath. It then jets the water to different points of the tub. This is very similar to the tub system commonly found in a lot of hot tubs in wellness clubs. They are normally more affordable when compared to the air spa. A lot of people also prefer whirlpool because of its therapeutic effects. The circulated and jetted water can massage different parts of the body, especially the neck, feet, and back, which can always feel the stress. They are also more pleasurable than the air spa.

Air spa, meanwhile, can blow air, coming from the bottom, towards the bath. This air passes through small holes. They seem to be more costly than whirlpools. However, with regards to quality and components, they are more superior. It is also very easy to clean the air spa, which includes a drying process accomplished once the bath is emptied. Air spas are more used in hospitals and other medical facilities since they are far more distressing and therapeutic than the whirlpool. Air spas are also excellent in homes, since they don’t get easily damaged even if children accidentally run them without water. You can also remove and set aside the pump if you want a more relaxing and quieter bath time.

It All Boils Down to the Pump

If you’re guessing which of them is more powerful, then the answer lies in the pump. Normally, air spas are equipped with a powerful pump, though several users weren’t convinced. This is because air bubbles usually begin as small at the deep recesses of the bath. When they begin to rise, the water pressure starts to decrease. This will cause the bubbles to expand, which can have a big impact of the surface of the water. This only means that when you take a shallow bath, the pressure seems less vigorous. Whirlpools have less jets which can create much more powerful jet effects.

Concrete Whirlpools or Acrylic Hot Tubs?

Unlike the traditional concrete spas and whirlpools, hot tubs made of fiberglass and acrylic appear lighter and thus can be installed in areas where concrete support isn’t really necessary. They can even be set up on rooftops. Their interiors are more well designed so you can have a more comfortable seating and can even accommodate a small group of people.

Acrylic spas can also give you more access to jets, fittings, and piping. This means that you can perform a more comprehensive plumbing work without having to remove the shell. Acrylic hot tubs aren’t affected by modifications in temperature unlike concrete whirlpools. There have been a lot of reports that whirlpools made of concrete tend to break easily when they are drained and cleaned or when they’re filled with cold water. With acrylic hot tubs, there’s no need for any twice-a-year maintenance or tile replacement. They can also be priced similarly as concrete whirlpool or spa.

Regardless of what you choose, however, the most important thing is you get what you truly want: great rest in the midst of water after a tiring day.

Like other service facilities, spas are classified according to the range of services they offer. A spa is a service establishment with a relaxing environment that offers services for the overall enhancement of the customer’s well being. Spa services include body treatments, facials, massages, manicures and pedicures done in private rooms by trained or professional massage therapists and estheticians. The higher end spas are of course more expensive.

There are variations on how the term ’spa” came about. One is that it was derived from the Latin phrase “salus per aquae” or health by means of water. Another is that it came from Spas, a town in Belgium with mineral water springs. Spas were first found in places with hot springs and sources of mineral water. People came to get healing from being immersed in hot water. Now, without any regulation on the use of the word “spa”, even small establishments offering massages identify themselves as spas.

Going to a real spa is expensive but with the availability of less costly spa equipment and products for the beauty rituals, it is now affordable to set up a home spa. A home spa costs less because the customer no longer pays for the overhead at commercial spas.

The initial cost in setting up a home spa is mainly the purchase of the following:

1. Lightweight hot tub or whirlpool spa and accessories
There are many models to choose from, there are even portable hot tubs but you can still experience the same hydrotherapy effect like at the expensive spas. You can also choose the desired seating capacity, from two to six people.

2. Beauty and spa products
There are less costly but effective brands available. You just have to research or ask around.

3. Preparation of the location or site for the home spa

After the home spa is installed, the operating costs will depend on the following variables: Frequency of use, electricity, water, maintenance chemicals ( testing of pH level, water cleanliness test ), fees for the masseuse, and consumable beauty products. Hire massage therapists working from home because they charge much lower fees than those at the commercial spas.

The environment in a home spa is of course not as luxurious as the commercial spas but the basic reason for going to the spa, the various treatments and massage, can be just as good in a home based spa. With a home spa, you save money and time which is a luxury to some. Isn’t that worth the initial trouble of scouting for and installing a spa at home?

While some people prefer to hire contractors to install their hot tubs for them (and some hot tub sellers actually make this a value-added service for each purchase), there are those of us who prefer to do the work ourselves. This consideration is often made because it’s a cheaper option than hiring someone, but more importantly, there’s a sense of satisfaction knowing that you did the job yourself. On a more practical standpoint (something that our wives rarely understand!) if we do the installation ourselves we have in depth knowledge of the workings of the hot tub and where it all connects to everything else in our house. This makes future maintenance and repairs a snap instead of having to call a “specialist” every time something goes wrong.

Here are some of the most important considerations to take before you get to work on your hot tub.

Inside or Out?

This is the first question to ask. Indoors or outdoors? Both have their appeal, and both demand equal amounts of work, just of a different nature. Outdoor hot tubs will often need a gazebo or something unless you’re going for the full open-air approach. Therefore, unless you already have outdoor shelter where you can place the hot tub, you’ll likely need to build one. Outdoor hot tubs are more relaxing, but you’ll need to place it in a section of the lawn or backyard where your underground plumbing lines run. This may also be more troublesome if your water heater is located inside the house, since water will have to run from outside into the house to be heated, and only then can you run a separate line from the heater back out to the hot tub. Therefore, unless your water heater is external too I’d recommend keeping the tub indoors.

Indoor Location Considerations

Assuming that you decided to install your hot tub indoors, where’s a good place to put it? One of the best locations I’d recommend is in a room adjoining your bathroom. The reason is pretty simple: most people who want to soak in a hot tub often take a shower before and/or after soaking, so if your hot tub adjoins a bathroom you’re fine. Otherwise you’ll have to make a small shower stall for your hot tub room. Also remember to place the hot tub in an easily accessible part of the house; some people prefer secluded spots like the basement, but this can literally be tragic in case of accidents when you’re alone. Drowning in your basement is NOT a good idea…

The Tools and Equipment

The main tools you’ll need are metal saws for the plumbing, monkey wrenches, and the usual assortment of screws, wood saws, and hammers if the hot tub has any wooden components. Aside from the usual gear any good handyman should have around the workplace, some special items you’ll want to get are things like waterproof sealing putty for the pipe joints as well as extra power cables (waterproof of course!) for connecting the hot tub’s switches safely to the house power lines. Naturally, if you’ll be delving into wiring, you’ll need splices and cable strippers just in case you need to adjust wiring lengths, as well as stand-alone power plugs that you can splice onto the wires when you get the lengths right. One safety tip here: get waterproof duct tape to wrap the plugs securely if you’re splicing! The last thing you want is to leave portions of the wiring open, especially near all that water…

The Tub

The tub itself is often something you buy from a shop and install yourself. However, if you’re truly ambitious and want to actually MAKE one yourself from scratch, remember several basic rules: All you need is a concrete shell. Ceramics are all well and good, but a DIY hot tub is best made from cast concrete since it’s highly improbable that you have a ceramic casting kit large enough… Now, once you’ve made plans for the basic concrete lay out of the shell, just plan where the water and air (assuming a Jacuzzi) pipes go, and you’re set. As a general rule of thumb, the drain is set at the bottom like any other bath tub, and the water and air pipes are set halfway up the height of the sides of the tub. If you’ve got the knack for it, cast the tub WITH the pipes already inserted; otherwise you’ll need a concrete drill later on and that gets expensive (and requires casting a new tub if you screw up drilling the holes). Lastly, no one wants to bathe in a tub that’s just plain gray cement; buy some tiles that you can use to cover the surface of the tub to make it look and feel more comfortable to bathe in.

Plumbing Considerations

Lastly, remember the basic rule of plumbing: water goes in one set of pipes, and out another. You’d be surprised at the number of DIY expert wood workers and metal workers (my Dad is an excellent example!) who suddenly forget this simple piece of logic when you throw water into the equation. Just plan the layout of your pipes beforehand: know where your primary water source is located, any plumbing lines that run near the hot tub’s location (both incoming and outgoing!), the water heater, and any water drain lines going out of the house to your sewage. As long as you can keep these four lines from getting mixed up you’ll avoid flooding the house. Hopefully.

Now that you have your new hot tub, just a few more accessories and your home spa equipment will be complete. Here is a list of hot tub accessories you might want to buy next time you pass by your home spa store:

A jet pump
A hot tub can become an inexpensive and relaxing home spa with a simple installation of a jet pump. A jet pump can suction the water and release it back to produce a softer therapeutic effect that improves relaxation. Although a heater will usually suffice for hot tubs, why miss out on the bubbly, tingly feeling only a jet pump can provide?

An ozonator
Other than the filtration system, the ozonator can help keep your water clear and clean for a long time, even with regular use. This hot tub accessory will minimize the need to replace your water too often.

Test kit
The test kit usually contains test strips used to determine the water’s pH level. A test kit will ensure that you maintain your water’s usability. You can check its pH level to see if the water is still fine for soaking. Maintaining a good acid-alkaline balance will also help preserve your heater coil and prevent it from getting corroded.

Floating thermometer
A thermometer will let you maintain the proper water temperature so you relax in your warm bath without worrying that water temperature might rise without your knowing it. High water temperature can cause hyperthermia which can lead to unconsciousness. With a water thermometer, you will be alerted about any unnecessary increase in temperature and ensure your safety.

Lighting
Add to the relaxing ambience by installing waterproof underwater lights to your hot tub. These lights can add to the peaceful, calming mood or enhance a lively hot tub party.

Thermometer
Since most hot tubs will have a built-in thermostat that will regulate water temperature, you might not think an accessory like a thermometer is necessary. However, you might want to use one just in case your thermostat breaks down. A floating thermometer can give you a good, accurate reading of the water temperature to ensure you are within safe, comfortable levels.

Entertainment
If you love sharing your hot tub with family and friends, why not splurge on entertainment gadgets especially designed for hot tubs? Try a mounted TV, DVD player, waterproof game cards or a floating spa radio to provide you with a more enjoyable hot tub experience. If you’re entertaining, add useful hot tub accessories such as a floating bar and side trays so you can serve fruit and juices.

Hot tubs are the current in fixture or equipment for bathing. While in the past, some people were satisfied with using tubs for bathing, now, modern homeowners are getting more sophisticated. After a long and winding day of hard work, isn’t it just perfect to clean yourself in hot or lukewarm water while lying comfortably in a tub. There are also specific hot tubs that facilitate massage-like effects because the running water facilitates for relaxing water movements.

If you are one of those people who aim to acquire and install a comfortable hot tub at home, the following procedures will be of great help. If you are installing a hot tub for your home perusal, it would be advantageous and appropriate if you abide by several recommended procedures.

1.Shop for the hot tub of your choice. Pay particular attention to the size and the overall capacity of the fixture. Also be specific about the necessary heating equipment that comes with the hot tub.
2.Check the voltage of electric supply requirement. Hot tubs can be operating in either 110 or 220 volts of electricity.
3.After purchasing the hot tub, bring it home or have it delivered for more convenience on your part.
4.Check the site where you want your hot tub installed. You can opt to place it outdoors in the backyard or on the patio or indoors in the bathroom or another unused closed room at home.
5.Make a wood plank that would serve as a support where the hot tub will be placed over. It isn’t advisable to put the hot tub directly on top of the concrete floor or bare ground. Doing so might produce cracks at the bottom of the tub because water pressure won’t be held sufficiently by the tub if it is placed on concrete that would exert more pressure. Bare ground is just too soft for the purpose.
6.Assemble the hot tub after putting it on top of a wooden plank. Usually, you just need to put the tub on top of the plank, then place the heating and other necessary and adjoining equipment at least a few meters away from the hot tub for security purposes.
7.Safely install the electric supply current. Make sure electric lines aren’t faulty and won’t directly touch the hot tub to avoid electrocution risks.
There you have it, your newly installed hot tub. Tempted to use it, fill the tub with water and turn on the heater until the desired water temperature is attained. You are now ready to splurge, clean and relax.

Now that you have a hot tub, you can fix it up by getting those accessories, making your bathing time more fun and relaxing for you.

Wind Up Swimming Tools
You see these on TV and you want your children to have their own in order to make bathing time worthwhile and enjoyable for them. You wouldn’t have a hard time dragging them into the tub with these.

They come in various animal designs like fish, crabs, ducks, frogs, hippos, lobsters, piranhas, red wheels, seals, swans and turtles to name a few. Not to mention, they come in various colors as well.

Toys and Games
If your children reach the stage where merely floating animals are no longer engaging, then try these toys and games.

1. Plastic Playing Cards
They come in a complete deck. You don’t have to worry about them getting wet because they are made of plastic.

2. Floating Radio
Your child can dance as much as he or she wants in the tub, with the music blasting from this nifty gadget.

3. Duck Cup Holder and Tumbler
This one is very helpful in spas. Most children bring their drinks while they take a dip. This time they can do so. Imagine having a relaxing time in the tub and taking a sip of their favorite drink in between. That’s kiddie heaven.

Wooden Accessories
This is for the obsessive compulsive homemaker who wants to protect other bathroom equipment from getting wet. By installing decks or squares, planters or benches, the spa area will be a place of relaxation and not just somewhere you can bathe. You can make your own bathroom like that of what you see in the hotels, poolside, country club or saunas with these wooden accessories.

There are towel trees and tables for your benefit. Think of all the possibilities and there are probably accessories for it.

Vacuums
Clean your hot tub once every week. One of the best vacuums is the spa and pool vacuum from Game. It effortlessly cleans your hot tub with just one push of the button. If you want something to fit your hand, then get the grit-gitter. You don’t have to worry about batteries, cords, hoses or getting electrocuted.

You should also have those Spa Scoop Nets so that you can remove the unwanted debris in the water.

Cover Lifts
The life of your spa lengthens every time you cover it with a cover lift after each use. It reduces the wear and tear of the equipment.

Filter Cartridges
For hygienic purposes, filters must be replaced as often as possible. It also helps to have extra filters which you should use whenever you are drying the other one. A hot tub or spa must always have filters.

Filter Cartridges Cleaner
For hygienic purposes, you also have to clean the filter cartridges. Here are the best products you can use in doing so.

1. Water Wand Filter Cleaner
It makes cartridge cleaning fast and easy. It cleans the multiple pleats with its rubber fingers. It gets in the areas that are hard to reach. It has a handy on and off button.

2. Filter Blaster Spa Filter Cleaner
If you are tired of cleaning the filter and sick of the mess and the time you have to devote to do the chore, you can just get the Filter Blast and it’ll do the work for you. It automatically rotates the hot tub filter as it jet sprays the filter pleats, making it clean. You just have to hook the Filter Blaster to the hose you use for your garden and those pesky debris and dirt will be out of your filter in a matter of minutes.

Thermometers
This is very helpful if you have to check the temperature of your hot tub. You wouldn’t want to step in and scald yourself or freeze your tush off now, would you?

The basic thermometer comes with a shatterproof lens and is very easy to read. You can choose between floating or the multi-purpose kind. Then there are the wireless thermometers that come with sensors. This is great for both indoor and outdoor use.

There are also thermometers that have animal designs. These will be fascinating for your children. They come in alligator, shark, pelican, duck, and turtle to name a few. With these animal thermometers, your child will definitely check the thermometer first before dipping into the hot tub.

When people talk about spas and hot tubs, they often think that these are simply tubs designed for luxury. In reality, they are more than that. These tubs are actually tubs that are designed for therapeutic use and since the use of these hot tubs and spas result in utmost relaxation due to the muscle relaxing action of the moving water; hence, they are associated with luxury. Hot tubs and spas are often built out of materials like acrylic, ceramic and wood lined with a waterproofing agent. The amount of water each of these spas can hold is usually dependent on the tub’s size and the number of people it can seat.

What Makes Them Special

How exactly do spas work and why are they so useful when it comes to getting a person’s body to relax which in turn helps them relieve stress? Let’s start with the composition of these technological wonders. Spas and hot tubs are essentially large bathtubs that incorporate the water pulsing action of jet streams. These jet streams causes the water to bubble and this bubbling water is one of the elements that helps muscles relax. Since the pulsing water rotates around the body, it gently massages all of it with this pulsing water action. This massage like movement of the water along with the added relaxing element of warm water helps many people relieve stress and that tired feeling that you usually get from a long day or week at work. Hot tubs usually have more than one water or air jet placed strategically all around the spa in places where it can give the user the most comfort and therapeutic use.

Who Benefits Them

A lot of manufacturers worldwide design and build their own spas and hot tubs for the people who wish to have either their own personal spa at home or for resorts and health spas who offer such an amenity to people who want these services. Hot tubs and spas are often made of a variety of materials that are molded into the shapes that are very comfortable and spacious enough to accommodate one or a few people at a time. The most common shapes hot tubs come in are the rectangular, square and circle shapes. These are often made out of durable materials that can withstand heat and prolonged use yet are built with comfort in mind. These tubs can be created as a recliner type where a person can lie down comfortably or a seat where people can simply sit in it and relax within the tub. Even when a hot tub or a spa is built to seat four to six people, you can actually stretch your legs out in it should you be using it alone. There are also tubs that are made in a combination seat and recliner where one person can recline in the tub with legs fully outstretched and two or three people can use the tub in a sitting position.

Installing Hot Tubs and Spas

How these tubs are installed is often the work of the people you purchase it from. While you can install these spas and hot tubs yourself, it would probably be better if you left this kind of a job to the professionals. The installation of hot tubs and spas are often fraught with a lot of connections, from water inlets to drainage outlets to electrical connections, it would indeed save you more time and effort and even money to have your hot tub or spa installed by those who have been doing so for quite a while. This may also involve a little digging and cementing if the spa or hot tub is one of the sunken kinds. You may also purchase one that stands alone and can just be filled up, plugged in and used. These kinds of spas or hot tubs are easy to install and are usually found in backyards and patios where people can take advantage of the relaxing and rejuvenating combination of fresh air and warm spa or hot tub water.

Understanding the nature of spas and hot tubs will help you decide which kinds of maintenance will fit them.

Whirlpool tubs are like normal bathing tubs. The only difference is that the water movement and circulation in whirlpool tubs is continuous and facilitating for a whirlpool movement. This water movement is responsible relaxing while bathing.

Whirlpools are new fixtures that are popular. Thus, before buying the bathroom fixture, it would be helpful if you would be familiar with the important parts of the fixture. Here are some whirlpool tub parts: unions, suctions, pumps, jets, heaters, electrical controls, air switches, air controls and air buttons.

To shop for any of these whirlpool tub parts, it would be advisable if you drop by the home fixture retailer. These stores have important whirlpool tub parts. You will easily understand how the parts are used and positioned in the whirlpool tub.

It would be advisable if you have a simple short-run idea of how whirlpool parts function. Electrical controls and switches are like normal equipment switches because they are used to turn on or off several functions. Heaters are small pieces of equipment installed underneath the tub to facilitate heating of the water. Pumps and jets are essential to facilitate the massaging movement of the water that fills tub.

Unions and suctions are basic electrical parts because they connect the equipment to the electrical supply source. You know that these are important because these parts facilitate the flow of electricity, which is needed to start the basic equipment operations.

The spa cover is an essential appliance to protect your hot tub from dust, debris, and even from your neighbor accidentally taking a dip. This is also measures to keep the water in the hot tub clean and ready to be used. However, even if its a protective cover, it still gets dirty and needs to be cleaned. Here are some tips in protecting your spa cover.

Clean your spa cover!
A clean cover will keep a clean tub. Get a garden hose and spray the water on the surface of the cover. Do so until the debris and the dirt come off. Get a soft brush and a large sponge to scrub on the spa cover. Do it with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and water. The vinyl top should be scrubbed in a circular motion and don’t let it dry with the soap! Rinse it well with water. As for the underside of the cover, wash it with water and dry with a rag.

Never, let the soap get into your hot tub! It will be a lot of trouble if it happens since you have to get it out of the tub.

Remedies for unwanted dirt

Anything can get on your spa cover such as tree sap, paint, grease, or grime, especially when your hot tub is under a tree or in your backyard. Tree sap can be annoyingly hard to get off, but a little bit of lighter fluid will do the trick. Don’t use too much because it will damage the vinyl cover. Right after the application of the fluid, apply your preferred spa cover conditioner or soap.

As for paint – sorry, but there’s no way to get it off. Once it dries, it remains there forever. Yes, there are solvents used to remove paint, but its a different story once you apply it on the spa vinyl cover. Solvents used to remove paint can damage your vinyl cover permanently.

Damages, blisters and whatnot

Sometimes fading color, blisters, or puddles show up on your spa cover. When the bottom vinyl of the spa cover sags like blisters, it means the water chemistry of your tub water is off. Improper water chemistry may manifest on your spa cover by color change, its being easily ripped, or falling into the water. The best remedy for this is to replace your spa cover.

These are just some tips on how to protect your spa cover. Treat your spa cover with care to make it last for a long time. It saves money and it saves a heck of a lot of worry.

Wouldn’t you like to relax in a hot tub without having to think about having to construct one in the first place? How about going out of town and bringing your hot tub with you for a relaxing night after a long trip? You can now do that with the latest innovation called the inflatable hot tub. These inflatable wonders are some of the most convenient and relaxing inventions to ever come off of the drawing board and getting yourself one is as easy as ordering it online and inflating it with a pump to relax in its warm depths.

Space Saving

Unlike built in or ready made non-collapsible hot tubs, inflatable hot tubs don’t take up any space when they aren’t in use. Unless if you want them to remain inflated all the time in an area of your home, you can deflate it and store it away to help save on much needed space. This is a very ideal hot tub to have if you are sold on the benefits of having a hot tub yet don’t have enough space to accommodate one in your home. You can use an inflatable hot tub in your bathroom when you feel like you need a rejuvenating soak in warm water and once you are done, you can free up the space it occupied after you have drained it and deflated it and store it in your closet or under your bed.

Party on the Go

There are also inflatable hot tubs that can accommodate more than two people and you can take an inflatable tub anywhere with you. Your friends will enjoy this relaxing and easy to assemble and put together hot tub that they might even insist that you bring it with you to certain get-togethers you guys might have or they might even end up buying their own. The bigger versions of these inflatable hot tubs are just as easy to assemble as their smaller counterparts and are just as easy to take apart and stow. These units often come with their own inflation blower and power packs that create that bubbling effect that hot tubs are famous for.

With inflatable hot tubs, you can take that relaxing hot tub sensation anywhere you go. Just pack it up and take it with you and whenever you feel like soaking, you just assemble, fill it up and enjoy.

Your own hot tub? Most people would love to have one, readily available to soak in after a hard day at work. Lucky are those who can afford to have one at home because a hot tub has both mental and physical therapeutic effects. The water pressure on different parts of the body improves blood circulation, soothes minor sore muscles, eases minor ordinary pains as well as discomforts from arthritis.

A hot tub is expensive, so anyone planning to have one installed at home should try to select the best hot tub. The best hot tub is one that fits your budget, the space available and the operating cost and is one that makes the user feel that he or she got what they paid for. The following should be considered in selecting the best hot tub:

1. Budget
How much is available to spend for a new hot tub?

2. Location and the size of the hot tub
Check the needed space for the hot tub and the accompanying accessories and plumbing. Check also if after the installation there is enough space for the user to move around. Are the passageways big enough to bring the tub to the space where it will be installed?

3. Ventilation
Hot water will make it humid, so plan for exhaust fans unless you intend to install the hot tub outdoors.

4. Outdoor tub location
Is it convenient for the user? If the tub is to be installed on a deck, is it strong enough and safe?

5. Hot tub and accessories

– Water Jets which are of different types. Discuss with the supplier so you get what you really want.

- Safety rails for safe entry and exit from the tub.

- Storage cabinets for the chemicals and other items needed for the hot tub.

- Panel locking for safety

- Automatic shut off feature for cost saving.

– Remote Control to set the bath condition up to a certain distance from the tub.

6. Operating cost
This mostly concerns the cost of electricity. Know the difference in cost between an outdoor and indoor hot tub.

7. Test Drive
Even small electrical appliances are tested before they are sold, so ask the retailer for a test drive. An important feature to check is the actual effects of the jets you plan to choose.

If the hot tub functions as expected, is within the intended budget, and fits the place well, then it is the best hot tub.

You might be thinking where are these products available, well of course the name itself states where it can be found. However, there are some products that can be purchased on the net and sometimes in some of the spa product’s retail outlets. If you are purchasing from the spa center itself then you can probably get a discount from the management. This is one of the promotional strategies of spa centers so that they attract more clients to buy directly from their spa centers.

In reality, purchasing spa products is rewarding provided that you conduct it accordingly. By asking some questions of the people who are familiar with the products and by conducting some research yourself you can be assured of getting the best results.

As much as most of us men pride ourselves on our ability to fix and maintain just about anything around the house, there are some things we draw the line at. At least if we’re smart. Deep indoor plumbing is one type of nightmare that has scarred several Do It Yourself handymen for life – at least until the next beer. Now, for those lucky, rich, and/or ingenious enough to have hot tubs installed in their houses, the plumbing nightmare multiplies threefold as a screw-up with a hot tub’s piping can often lead to flooded basements and large bruises from the wife. To avoid these harsh penalties, smart men know their limits, and know when to call in the experts. Here is a brief guide to finding a good, reliable professional to handle your hot tub repair problems.

The Easiest Step

The first and easiest option (and also the safest) is if your hot tub was sold to you with either a warranty and/or a service clause. In either of these cases, the people who sold you the hot tub will have specialists on their staff who HAVE to fix the tub or replace it if it’s faulty, depending on your coverage. In the event that you just bought a kit and installed it yourself, or if the warranty has expired, you should move on to the next step. Don’t settle for just calling the people you bought it from if the warranty has bit the dust; their staff might not be competent, or they might charge you an arm and a leg. Start shopping around for a cheap yet reliable repair man.

Okay, so What’s Busted?

While calling a specialist is all well and good, first you have to know what’s broken. If the water isn’t coming in properly, this may be a result of clogged pipes or a problem with the water pump. If the damage is directly to the shell of the hot tub, this is fairly easy to spot. Leaks, on the other hand, aren’t restricted to shell damage. Check the places where the pipes connect to the tub to see if the problem lies there instead. If one type of water (hot or cold) isn’t coming in properly, it’s often a pipe problem, BUT may also be damage to your water heater itself or to the electric wiring of the heater or tub. Try to find the source of the problem before you ask someone to make a house call.

Who yah Gonna Call?

Once you find the problem, (or think you have!) there are four general hot tub specialists who can help you with your various problems. The most common one that most people call on is the plumber. If the problem is with your pipes, you definitely want a plumber to do the work for you. On the other hand, another type of specialist to call is someone who remodels hot tub shells. Call this type of specialist if the damage is due to a leak in the actual shell of the tub. Repairing a ceramic tub shell is beyond either the skills or the equipment of most DIY handy men. If you’ve determined the damage is to the water pump or heater, the first instinct of most people is to call a plumber. However, mechanics specializing in small motors and household appliances are better in this case. Not every plumber is trained to deal with a mechanical problem – their specialty is in pipe related problems. Lastly, if the problem is electrical in nature like a busted power outlet that runs your water pump, call an electrician. While replacing wiring may seem simple, remember that you’re also working with water here – the last thing you want to do is strip a cable and leave little parts exposed to all that wonderful water you’re bathing in…

How can you be sure you’re not getting ripped off?

You can’t. it’s a sad but true fact that when you call in a specialist they have control over the situation – they can easily claim any number of damages that need “fixing” and charge you for each separate repair job. The only real way to keep yourself protected in this case is to rely on your own experiences as a Do It Yourself handyman. Keep close to the repair man as he goes over the problem, and ask frequent questions and clarifications as to the nature of the problem and how he’s going to fix it. If he starts giving you lip about needing to work “in peace”, just assert the fact that YOU’RE the one paying his bill, so if you want to ask questions it’s your right to do so. More importantly, if you show that you’re on the ball and keeping an eye on him, he’ll be less inclined to fabricate problems (assuming you get a dishonest one). Still, one of the best ways to make sure you get a decent repair man is to ask for recommendations from your friends and family; if several people can attest that a certain person’s services are competent and prices are fair, go with it.

Why do you feel so relaxed like your aches have banished after spending time in a whirlpool spa? The common answer is that it must be the effect of the warmth, water movement and pressure, and buoyancy or in short, hydrotherapy. The whirlpool movement is produced when water is pulled from the bath, then, mixed with air and sprayed back with high pressure through the jets from strategic locations in the tub. The buoyancy of swirling water reduces the weight supported by muscles and consequently also reduces stress. This sounds so simple but many attest to these results.

The water in the tub is between 38degreesC (100degreesF) to 40degreesC (104degreesF), considered safe for adults and adds to the soothing effect of the water movement. Following is a list of the effects on some common ailments by at least 10 minutes in a whirlpool spa:

1. Sore muscles relief
The bubbles and water pressure massage the sore areas and eases the pain.

2. Improves blood circulation
The warm water and the massaging effect of hydrotherapy relaxes and dilates the blood vessels. The relaxed and dilated blood vessels allow faster blood flow, improving blood circulation. Improving the blood circulation results to faster distribution of the nutrients to different parts of the body.

3. Reduces migraines
Migraines are eased by the improved blood circulation.

4. Ease chronic pains like arthritis and back pains and muscle stresses
The spa reduces swelling and eases pressure on the joints.

5. Relaxes the mind and body
Again, due to the warmth and massaging effect of the water. Warm water also relaxes the mind and induces sleep which is good for people who are stressed.

6. Improves alertness
Too much stress reduces concentration and alertness. The warm water in the whirlpool spa relaxes the muscles and promotes concentration through improved blood flow.

The ailments listed above are just some of the common ones frequently reported to have been relieved by sessions in a whirlpool spa. The therapeutic effects of a whirlpool spa not only eases different body pains, it also induces relaxation and the feeling of contentment and euphoria in some people.

More and more people are embracing the natural methods of healing minor ailments. Considering the number of ailments relieved by the effects of a whirlpool spa, it is a wise and beneficial investment.

Spa heaters consist of a special nichrome wire that produces heat as an outcome of its resistance towards the electricity running through it. There are many kinds of spa heaters such as gas heaters and solar heaters. You may consider one but first you must learn some basic information about spa heaters.

Spa heaters are run by electricity and basically, a heating system is installed in spa pools. This spa heating system may be complicated but in reality, its quite simple. Under normal conditions, the electricity passes through some relays and switches. This electricity is then applied to the heating components which cause it to get hot; this in turn, is transferred to the water.

What heater should you buy? There are endless choices! There are commercial spa heaters such as PacFab MiniMx 100 which is a natural gas or LPG heater. If gas isn’t available there are also Raypak SpaPak which is an electric spa heater specially designed for hot tubs and spas. It has an on and off switch for safety and convenience.

You can also buy solar spa heaters. You can choose this if you want to use the spa night or day for longer periods. This can be a good investment since your cost will be virtually nothing after the solar system is installed; it is also environment friendly since you will be utilizing renewable energy.

It is also useful to know what to do when the heater malfunctions. Some spa heaters fail because of the deterioration from inappropriate water chemistry. If your spa isn’t heating, the initial step is to check if the pump still moves water to the heating system. Take note that spa heaters wont function if there’s insufficient water being pumped. However, if the pump works well, the next move is electrical tests.

In running your electrical tests, you can use an amp meter, volt/ohm meter and some basic hand tools that are necessary for appropriate testing. Keep in mind that without these meters, any spa repairs will just be trial and error. It may also lead to replacement of the not so broken parts of the spa. If you aren’t sure of what to do or how to use the test meters, it will be best to call for some help from qualified spa technicians.

Spa heaters are an added feature in your spa. Spas can really be exciting and relaxing if the flowing water is warm since it can send a soothing effect to your body. In addition, these heaters can send a massaging effect that can truly give your body rest. Buy one and you will never regret it!

Portable hot tubs were among the most recent innovations brought to us by technology. So you can just imagine how a hot tub could be moved from one space to another with assurance that all the necessary components are intact. These portable hot tubs include independent plumbing so there will be no need for you to experience a muddled setup which consists of the erection of the external water pipes.

Pros in using a portable hot tub

Portable hot tubs contain the similar jet system together with the same seating options which you may find in the obstinate tubs. Thus there is no need to be anxious regarding the possible decrease in comfort offered by this hot tub. Aside from achieving the same comfort you can also transfer it to any place you want to soothe yourself.

The principal benefit offered by these portable hot tubs is the fact that, there is no need to attach it to an outside water source. With this kind of feature added to the hut tub, setting up and maintaining it will be a breeze. If you want to fill it, you can simply grab your garden hose. After doing so, the preparation will be complete with you adding the crucial chemicals and then you are good to go.

Since there is no need for you to have a permanent water source installed in your home, you won’t need to worry about a piping or plumbing system. The one thing that you need to secure with these portable hot tubs will be the source of electricity.

Judging the services

If you are to assess the performance of these tubs, you would come up with a fair judgment that it functions similarly to the fixed models. It is because the attached water jets also provide relief on our stressed muscles through massage.

Adding to the feature of the hot tubs is the fact that they are lightweight, when emptied the tub just weighs around 50 to 60 pounds. Typically these tubs were produced from a small fry type of plastic materials and foams designed to provide comfort and durableness.

If you are in search of a good investment which will last a long time, you should take into consideration a portable hot tub. These tubs can also assure you lasting therapeutic features with less hassle in terms of maintenance.

Installing a hot tub is more than just sinking it into the hole that is dug out for it or filling it up with water and plugging it in. Since it involves a certain amount of water usage, you will need to have your plumbing for your tub done. How does a hot tub get installed and how do you get your plumbing done for your tub? While you may get a professional to do this for you, it wouldn’t hurt you if you knew how they do it and what is involved in the plumbing process of your spa or hot tub.

What Do You Need

Your new spa or hot tub will need to have a water inlet or a source where your tub can be filled up with water. You will also need to have a water outlet or a drain where the used water can be cleared out of your hot tub or spa. These are the two basic plumbing needs of your tub and you should know how these are integrated into your spa and hot tub assemblies. With sufficient knowledge about plumbing a hot tub or a spa before you even purchase your unit coupled with a rather competent hand at plumbing or at being a handyman, you can actually try and install the plumbing of your hot tub or spa yourself.

Basic Components

There are quite a number of spas and hot tubs that you can install on your own and can be easily filled with the use of your basic, everyday garden hose and drained with the simple pulling out of a stopper or a water plug. While there are hot tubs that are as simple as this, not all of them are built this way and a lot of hot tubs and spas require a bit of plumbing and installation to get them to work properly. Those tubs that require a bit of plumbing work need a few of these parts for proper plumbing installation:

1.PVC elbows and PVC are the pipes that carry the water in and out of your hot tub or spa and are usually used for filling and drainage purposes.
2.Flexible PVC pipes are often used for the plumbing of the jets of your hot tub.
3.Fittings are the parts that connect one part of your pipe with another and one plumbing fixture with another. These come in many shapes and sizes for your many different plumbing needs.
4.Valves, there are quite a number of valves you can choose from to help you control the water flow towards your hot tub. There are ball valves, slicer valves and multi port valves that can be used for your tubs.
5.Suctions suck in the water that is recycled and blown back into the tub in the jet streams that you see and feel when you sit in your hot tub.
6.Filters and Skimmers are also essential parts of hot tubs and spa plumbing installations and more often than not found installed into the tubs themselves.

These are some of the more important plumbing parts of your hot tub or your spa and are needed for your tub to function properly. When you do install your spa’s plumbing, you will need to have your water pass through a heating unit to get your water heated enough to the temperature that is often used in hot tubs and spas. You will also need to consider how far your tub is to your main water source for you to effectively measure out the length of hose or pipes needed for the plumbing of your hot tub.

Aside from choosing individual components for your hot tub or spas plumbing needs, you can actually buy a complete set for your tub from certain plumbing supply stores. How you can install your tub’s plumbing and what you may need will have to depend on the kind of hot tub you have and the kind of installation you have to do. There are also tub plumbing sets that come with complete instructions for plumbing installations, from the attachment of a filter to the connecting of your pumps and hoses. There are also tubs that come complete with these plumbing installations and instructions on installation and repair for your specific tub.

Once you’ve got your hot tub installed, the work doesn’t stop there. Like any other device ever made by the hand of man, hot tubs can and will eventually break down after some time. Or, assuming that the hot tub is extremely well made and never really has any special need for repairs, there is still the possibility that you or someone in your house will get it into their heads to upgrade the tub, redecorate the room, or some other idea that will require your tinkering with the tub all over again. Depending on the cases, knowing your limits as a Do It Yourselfer is important, and knowing when to call the cavalry is likewise important. Here are some of the most common scenarios:

Repairing Shell Leaks

This is pretty easy IF you’re not too finicky about the appearance of your tub. Leaks can be caused by anything, from faulty seams in wooden boards that make up a Jacuzzi to cracks in the cement, to loose pipe seams at the point where they connect to the tub. Usually, water-proof sealants are enough to handle the most common problems of this nature. Just make sure that the sealant you get is meant for bonding to the type of material of your tub shell. Using “generic” sealants is rarely a good idea; buy something meant to adhere specifically to whatever your tub’s made of and you’ll be fine. If the leak in the shell is larger than what can be fixed with a little bit of putty and sealant though, call the experts…

Replacing Pipes

Unless you’re pretty good with plumbing, this is never a good idea to DIY. You require an intimate knowledge of the piping in your house to replace pipes successfully. If you don’t have much experience with plumbing beyond fixing a stuck toilet, call an expert. It’s better than trying to explain to the wife how you forgot to turn the water-main off before working on the hot tub and wound up flooding the house… On a smaller note, we can assume that if the pipes you’re fixing/replacing are directly connected to the tub, this is something most DIY handy men can still manage to fix. If the faulty pipes in question go deeper into the house’s main plumbing though… don’t. Even. Think. It.

Fixing the Wiring

Again, small problems like replacing switches and power plugs are about the most I’d advocate. With a good set of waterproof electric cords, some splicing gear and wire strippers, and a screwdriver you can replace faulty wiring in the hot tub (I’m assuming electric motor run Jacuzzis here). However, again if the problem seems to be more in depth and technical in nature, call a specialist to fix the Jacuzzi’s motor, wiring, or whatever.

Busted Pump

This is relatively easy to fix IF you installed the hot tub yourself. Whether it’s the air or water pump connected to your hot tub, as long as you know how it works and have a little mechanical know how, fix it like you would any other motor; if it’s busted beyond salvation, then at least buy a replacement and plunk it in. IF on the other hand you had someone else from the shop do the installation of your hot tub it’s a better bet to, again, call the cavalry.

Hot Tub Remodeling

This may or may not require calling a specialist in depending on what changes you’re out to make. I would advocate DIY’ing any small cosmetic changes like a new paint job or spraying on a protective over-coating. Placing add-ons like adding a shelf attachment or fold-out tub side table is easily within the scope of most people. However, if the changes you want alter the actual shape or size of the shell, do yourself a favor and either buy a bigger tub or hire a pro to do the work for you.

Spa Room Add On Ideas

Lastly, we come to modifications NOT to the tub, but to the actual room that houses the tub. this can include things like additional ventilation, lights, a sound system, or making a mini-bar. The only basic rule of thumb here is: as long as the add ons don’t touch anything related to the tub, go for it. if the add ons you want DO affect changes to the tub, pipes, wiring, and pumps however… don’t despair, you can still do it yourself. Just follow the general guidelines given in the rest of the scenarios above, and you’ll know when you’re getting in out of your depth.

With the usually intoxicating times, people are suffering from a variety of factors that make life miserable. People are suffering from adverse health effects of pollution and from physical weakness and lack of stamina due to various stressful and weary activities that come along with usual daily routines. However, there is equipment or home fixtures that have been developed to help the body relax and unwind. In the comfort of your home, you can have a spa.

If you have your own spa at home, the problem you would have to get over is how to clean the health fixture. Because the spa is bathing equipment that facilitates massage through running water, it will get dirty and mossy if not properly taken care of and cleaned. To counter cleaning challenges, here are some recommended tips that will help you do the activity more conveniently and a lot easier.

-To rub off dirt and moss from the walls of the spa, it would be advisable if you just rub off the contaminants using soft sponge. You should do the cleaning when the spa is filled with hot to lukewarm water. It would be easier to rub off and remove dirt from the walls of the spa if the water is warm.

-If the water in the spa looks greenish or brownish due to dirt and moss, you don’t need to drain the water automatically. Surely, there is a need to do that, but make sure that before you do that, you make use of the dirty water to clean the spa. Add about half a cup of chlorine bleach to the water. Run the jets of the spa to facilitate and circulating and turbulent action that would help remove stains, moss and other dirt on the walls of the spa.

-When cleaning the spa, be sure to keep the jets operating for at least 15 minutes and more. Drain the water out. Filter the next batch of water to be placed in the spa.

-When the spa is completely drained, you can do a simple cleaning action by wiping it with soft cloth to remove stains, dirt, moss, and other contaminants that stick to the walls of the spa.

Overall, be reminded that the spa is naturally cleaning the water that comes and circulates into it. You should also know that there is no need to constantly replace water in the spa. It is advisable to replace water at least once every three to six months. That is still healthy because spa water naturally won’t retain dirt. The water is usually heated to lukewarm before the spa is used, so any impurities will still be filtered out prior to dipping your body into it.

Hot tubs can be quite expensive purchases, especially if you aren’t content with a basic unit. And why should you be? With all the accessories and built-in controls available with many units, you will definitely be tempted to buy the one that can offer the most functions. But if you’re unwilling to pay the price, consider buying discount hot tubs. They’re not only cheaper, they are also as good as the more expensive types. Here are ways you can find one:

Seek the manufacturer.
If you have a trusted manufacturer in mind, try getting in touch with them to inquire about their cheaper hot tubs. Some manufacturers are willing to sell directly to consumers, so you will eliminate the retailer’s mark up.

You might also want to see if they are selling hot tubs wholesale. Wholesale prices are discounted prices and if you can manage to buy with a group of people, you can take home a hot tub at a very nice bargain. You could save about 20% to 30% off the retail price this way.

Check retailers’ sales.
Sooner or later, retailers will offer some of their hot tubs at a discount. These are tubs that may be part of a clearance sale or a discontinued line. Very often, these hot tubs are still of excellent quality and condition. Retailers usually offer hot tubs at a discount during summer end sales or winter time sales. If you can wait, you just might find yourself a great buy.

Don’t mind a secondhand? Buy used.
Used tubs don’t necessarily have to be old tubs. Some owners sell their hot tubs for many reasons — some of them may be moving to another town or a house with a smaller bath area, etc. You could get an excellent discount with these hot tubs, provided of course that you don’t mind buying a used tub.

Buy online.
Plenty of discount hot tubs are offered online and many retailers have a good variety of brands and models to choose from. As long as you deal with a reliable retailer, you should be able to get a good price for an excellent unit.

Many online retailers can afford to offer discounts on their hot tubs because they mainly do business online, eliminating the need to add a high mark-up for overhead expenses. Try these sites: DiscountSpasDirect.com, BurchSpas.com, SpaDepot.com and AffordableSpas.com.

Buying your discount hot tubs
Decide on what features you like and then check out models that offer these functions. Don’t be tempted to buy a model that has more functions than you can actually use. Don’t forget ask for warranty and return policy in case you’re unsatisfied with your order.

With the continuous popularity of tubs installed in modern homes, the shapes have also evolved into various sizes and shapes. On the market, you may choose from various kinds like the round hot tubs or rectangular hot tubs, there are also small ones which accommodate only a couple of persons and many other shapes depending on the caprice and interest of the manufacturer.

Why the shape?

Since you are choosing from various shapes of hot tubs, there may be instances when you experience confusion in selecting your hot tubs. But you need to be reminded that the shape of the tub that you buy should fit in to the purpose you have for the hot tub. The reason behind that is because, the shape and size of the tub determines the amount of gadgets and jets attached on the tub.

Main purpose of the round hot tubs

The usual types of tubs are either rectangular or square in shape, but there are some round hot tubs now on the market. This particular type of hot tub is said to offer a wider array of benefits as compared to the conventional square hot tubs. Since hot tubs these days are included in the options of people who want to socialize, the round hot tubs enable the people to enjoy an effortless position as they splash in the bubbling hot water.

So you can just imagine that every one in the tub can converse easily because they are facing each other. This is the most basic problem encountered by group of people who want to socialize in the square hot tub. It is because there is high probability that everyone will face in a different direction, along with different elevation which makes it more difficult to chat.

Plans with the round hot tubs

In the event that you want to have a hot tub party with some of your friends it is ideal that your hot tub have room for six persons or more so that there won’t be people left outside the tub. The best area to place your round hot tub is in the garden, where it will be the center of attention while relaxing inside your tub.

Your home spa can give you more in terms of service if you make sure it undergoes maintenance on a regular basis. Maintenance not only makes sure that your home spa is working properly but also guarantees that it is safe to use. Here are some key points you should remember to keep your home spa clean and functional:

Keep your filter clean.
If your home spa filter is disposable, replace it regularly. Depending on how heavily it is used, do this after about 8 months or simply follow the manufacturer’s recommendation. In between, detach the filter unit and clean it manually. Remember that a clean filter system means clean water.

Clean the tub.
You can prevent stains and discolorations from forming by simply using a vacuum or a skimmer net to remove floating residue. Each time you use your home spa, body oils, sweat, grease, dirt, dust and additional oils from cosmetics can mix with the water and form residues on the side of the tub. For maintenance, simply wipe off the residue or use a mild cleanser for more stubborn stains.

Disinfect your home spa.
Home spa maintenance is never really complete without disinfection. The warm temperature and dampness is an ideal environment for germs and bacteria to grow. Algae and mold can also appear, which can cause allergies and other health risks.

After cleaning, make sure your home spa is disinfected. Simply mix some disinfectant into a pail of water and use this to rinse your tub.

Ensure circulation.
Checking the circulation of your home spa is part of its maintenance. Observing the circulation will alert you to any defect in your equipment. Good circulation also means that water is moving efficiently throughout the tub and that it mixes thoroughly with chemicals. For maintenance, run the circulation system of your home spa for 3 to 4 hours every day.

Change water.
Sooner or later, the water in your home spa will get dirty, even if you clean your filter regularly or add chemicals. Grayish, cloudy, discolored and smelly water means you will have to drain your tub and replace it with new water. This usually happens after 3 to 4 months of regular use.

Home spa maintenance is quite simple and can easily be incorporated into your home equipment care schedule. If necessary, have your home spa serviced at least once a year. A professional can ensure that the equipment is working properly and that any defects are immediately repaired.

Hot tubs are a wonderful addition to a home since they provide relaxation from the massage. Furthermore, it has wonderful health benefits for the user. However, just like any other swimming pool, a hot tub is a place where safety precautions should be exercised. Here are some safety tips when using your hot tub.

Maintain the tub clean

Any water-containing facility can be a breeding ground for bacteria such as Legionella bacteria and Pseudomonas bacteria. Legionella bacteria can cause a fatal disease called Legionnaires disease. Meanwhile, Pseudomonas can trigger skin rashes, pneumonia, and eye infections. That’s why its essential for the hot tub to be clean all the time.

Make it a point to drain the tub and scrub the walls of the hot tub monthly or twice a month, depending on the use, to remove dirt and bacteria. This could be done with a bleach solution. The same goes with the filters and pumping systems, which should be cleaned regularly. Also scrub the surfaces and decks around the tub clean.

Also use the right level of disinfectants to guarantee clean water in the hot tub. Chlorine can be used, as it is the most common disinfectant used in hot tubs. Monitor the level of disinfectant since when the tub is often used, the disinfectant level goes low.

People who use the tub should shower before dipping in the hot tub. We are dirty from pollution, dust, and everything else caught in city life. Therefore, we are a source of bacteria. So a shower with soap to wash away the dirt would be good to decrease the level of bacteria in the tub.

Hot tub temperature and its disadvantages

Since these tubs operate on a high temperature, it could cause overheating which triggers dizziness, rashes, burns, heat-related diseases or even death. The temperature should never exceed 104F or 40C.

Pregnant women and children are also at risk when using hot tubs. As for pregnant women, they shouldn’t stay more than 10 minutes in the water as it would be detrimental to their health. Lowering the temperature to 102F or 39C would be best when pregnant women are using the hot tub. Meanwhile, children are more prone to overheating and drowning. They should stay in the tub not more than five minutes. Parents should always supervise their children for them to stay out of harms way.

Also don’t soak for a long time because heat would cause dizziness and when you are dizzy you could faint. Fainting would be fatal since it could trigger heart attack or even death.

Proper use of every household appliance would ensure your family’s safety and yourself as well. Take these tips into consideration to make sure you are out of harms way.

A water filter is very necessary if you want to make sure that your waters safe from any biological or chemical impurities. These filters are normally used in aquariums, drinking water, irrigation, and swimming pools, to name a few.

Types of Spa Filters

There are three known types of spa filters. These are sand filters, D.E. filters, and cartridge filters.

Sand Filter

The sand filter contains silica sands that can trap particles with ranges of 20 to 100 microns. The more it can collect dirt, the better it functions in trapping a lot of dirt.

Many people are saying that the sand bed must be changed at least once every 7 years. However, its efficiency loss is very hard to detect. There are many reasons that can cause its deterioration. One is water balance. You can include a little amount of alum, or aluminum sulfate, in the skimmer. It will build into a gelatinous layer over the sand bed, which can help in cleaning the terrible water condition. You may also sprinkle a little of other forms of filter media.

Cartridge Filter

This type of filter is the common choice among spas as well as little above-ground swimming pools. The filter element in these is more like the air cleaner installed in automobiles. It can trap up to 25 to 100 microns of particles. You can remove the cartridge from the tank then thoroughly hose it using a high-pressure hose so you can take away the dirt. This is usually done when the pressure gauge read 8 to 10 lbs.

There are a number of individuals who will bring their cartridges to carwash centers. However, there is reduction in its filtering ability every time it is cleaned. Thus, it should be replaced at least every 2 to 5 years to avoid any more damage. If the filter proves to be somewhat smaller and that there are lots of tree debris and algae, it can only be useful for 1 to 2 years.

DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Filter

Among the filters, this is considered to be the most effective kind. It can trap dirt with size of 3 to 5 microns small enough for you to actually see it.

For a DE filter to work, you must sprinkle DE powder all over the filter grids, which are found within the filter tank. This powder isn’t hard to find and, in fact, very affordable. These are actually diatom skeletons that look like little sponges. These sponges are the main reasons why the filter can trap the dirt.

Backwashing Filters

When it comes to water treatment, backwashing refers to the water pumping reversal. This is done because filters can also get dirty and they must be maintained to ensure that they can still function properly.

There are several steps involved in backwashing. These are the following:

1.You remove the filter from the line and drain the water into the filter bed.
2.A process called air wash cycle begins. This is when the air is being pushed up into the filter bed so that it appears as if its boiling. This process will break up the compressed filter bed and will force the particles accumulated to be suspended. This will last for around 3 minutes.
3.Once it stops, the backwash phase begins. Water will then start to flow up passing through the filter bed.
4.Clean water passes through the filter bed to remove the accumulated particles present in the media and to clean the media. This doesn’t stop until the backwash water appears clean.

There are two known types of backwash valves. These are the push pull valves and multiport valves. The push-pull valves, or slide valves, are usually mounted in bulkhead fittings located at the sides of the DE or sand filter. They are very convenient to use, contain lesser parts and are more lenient to water flow. The multiport (MPV) valves can be found in the same area where slide valves can be attached. Their main advantage is that they have multiple ports, which gives you more choices when it comes to filtering and backwashing. Normally, they contain 6 positions. Exceptions include Jacuzzis, which have 7. They are called filter, rinse, backwash, recirculate, waste, and closed.

Dealing with Leaking Filters

Sand filters don’t leak as much as others. However, it can occur around the multiport interface. Usually the problem lies on leaks coming from the multiport valves backwash port. To solve the problem temporarily, you may perform minor adjustments to the handle. However, if it means more permanent repair, you may have to replace the spider gasket located within the multiport valve.

If you want to keep yourself safe when you’re enjoying the luxury of spas, tubs, and baths, then you better ensure you have the best filters installed in the system.

Spa pools aren’t operational without the essential parts. We aren’t only talking about the water and the bubbles that make it more soothing and relaxing. With parts, we are referring to the more technical elements. There are many different kinds of spa pools; thus spa parts will also differ in one way or another. Here are some of the most common parts and some descriptions on how they work:

Spa control packs are the moving parts which are behind the access panel door. They are spa frames and shells which routinely last for 30 to 40 years. Spa packs when installed with pumps, produces hot bubbling water. When broken, the most economical solution is to change the pack rather than fixing it. There are manufacturers who engage in the custom building of these packs so you don’t have to worry if the pack doesn’t fit your spa. Two of the widest categories of spa packs are pneumatic and electronic spa packs.

Spa air blowers are also known as air pumps. They pump air into the spa through a series of injectors in the edge of the seats and foot well. Water is aerated all throughout the spa producing gentle massage when the spa air blower is on. Air blowers can also be mixed with the water which comes out from the therapy jets; this process produces a different kind of massage.

Spa ozonators have always been proven to sanitize and purify spa and pool water more effectively and faster than the traditional chemical processes. With ozonators, water is treated 3,000 times faster without unwanted byproducts like bromamines and chloramines. Actually, the byproduct of spa ozonator is the life giving oxygen. The alkalinity and ph should be maintained and occasional oxidizer shock and chlorine must be used.

Spa air buttons are used to control the spa components in electromechanical spa like jet pumps, lights and blowers. These air buttons allow the on and off switching of components without electricity. They are attached to control box switches with air tubing on one end. The air switch is connected to the other end of the air tubing.

There are other spa parts that are worthy of mentioning like flow switches, pump and pump motors, heater assemblies and manifolds, time clocks, etc. All these parts are beneficial to the smooth usage of the spa pool. Spas can really be a very relaxing experience if all the parts are at their best. If you are really indulged in having your own spa pool or if you already have one, regularly checking the parts can help you maintain it and can save you from huge expenses in the future.

While it may be easier for people who want a personal spa in their own backyard to have it assembled and installed by contractors, there is a way to do it yourself. Assembling and installing your own spa in your own home isn’t that hard as long as you know what is needed, where to put it and you have a certain handyman streak in you.

Buy a Kit with Instructions

There are do-it-yourself spa kits that come complete with instructions regarding installation, assembly, electrical concerns and drainage concerns. These can be easily followed and have you sitting in your own spa in no time. These spa kits often come complete with all the necessary equipment needed to get it working in no time. While there may be one or two parts in the construction where you may need to consult with a certified professional, like an electrician to ensure safety standards are being met, other aspects of building and how to install spas are well covered by the instructions that come with the packaged spa set you may purchase.

Buy a Stand-alone Spa

Another easy way for you to install a spa in your home is to get a stand-alone unit that you can just plunk anywhere in your backyard or your bathroom, fill with water and enjoy. Of course, these units may also come with instructions on how to install spas that says you will need to have it connected to a water outlet and a nearby electrical outlet. The electrical outlet is very important and should be considered a factor that needs to be done by a professional, however, the water supply issue when you talk about a stand alone spa can be easily remedied with a simple garden hose. As long as the spa gets filled with water, it doesn’t really matter whether or not it has a built in water supply outlet. This kind of an outside-the-box thinking helps cut short any complications with how to install spas may bring.

When you are thinking of installing a spa in your own home, you will need to consider how well you can grasp the instructions on how to install spas that come with these things. If you find it too complicated, you may need to get in touch with a professional to get them to do it the right way.

With a hot tub comes responsibility. It’s not just about fun, you have to clean your hot tub as often as possible for hygienic purposes.

Here are some of the commonly used hot tub cleaning tools.

1. Telepoles
This is the main cleaning instrument you need. They are made of fiberglass of aluminum. They come in various sizes. The end has a rounded tip or a handgrip in order for your hand to not slip when you’re cleaning your pool or your hot tub. It also comes with magnets so that it can pick up metallic items such as nails or hairpins.

2. Wall and Floor Brush
These are used in order to remove the stains, dirt and materials that stick on the surface. The wall is there to brush off the spa and tub interior surfaces. These are often made from an aluminum frame and come with a shank that perfectly fits your grip. They have nylon bristles that can easily brush across every end.

The curved kinds are used in order to get to those corners that are very tight. These wall and floor brushes also come in different sizes. Don’t use wire brushes that aren’t made of stainless steel because the bristles snap while you are brushing. It will also leave stains when they rust on the plaster. You also have to check whether they are rusty because these might cause further staining.

3. Vacuum Head and Hose
Vacuums are specially made to suck in the dirt in the spa or hot tub. There are two procedures to vacuum these equipments. The first one is to suck the dirt and sent it into the filter. The second one is to use water pressure from the hose and force the debris in the bag then removing and cleaning it with the vacuum.

Vacuum heads are usually made of plastic that keeps the head above the surface as it does the cleaning. A flexible head lets the contour go in accordance with the curves of the hot tub and the spa.

4. Tile Brush and Tile Soap
These are used to clean the tiles. Tile brushes don’t bend too much in order to allow more cleaning. Tile soaps are often mixed of muriatic acids. These cut the stubborn oils and stains. It also eats through the plastic of the brush pads so make sure that you continue rinsing the hot tub after you apply and scrub. Don’t use other kinds of soap aside from one that is made specifically for cleaning the hot tub or spa. If you do, it might only sud and foam.

5. Pumice Stones
These are used in order to remove the scales from the hot tub tiles. It also removes the stains or other deposits from the surfaces. By using these, the surface isn’t excessively scratched.

These stones are made from volcanic ash and are specifically made for abrasive actions. They are often sold in blocks and are attached to the telepoles or brushes in order to reach the surface easier. Pumice stones disintegrate so we suggest that you do the scrubbing before you do the vacuuming. Another alternative for pumice stones are plastic foams or Styrofoam because these do not scratch the fiberglass.

Brushing is the Best
The best way to clean your pool is through manual brushing. This removes the debris and the stains. You can also direct how clean you want your tub to be depending on how rigorous you brush.

Pool is the same as Spa and Hot Tub
The steps for cleaning the pool also work for spas and hot tubs. Here are some tips you may consider.

1. Spas are often made of fiberglass so be very mindful whenever you vacuum in order to not scratch the surface.

2. You have to evaluate the water before you do the cleaning. Cleaning also invests a great amount of time but its worth it. You have to test the water in order for you determine whether you should clean it, treat it, or drain it.

Spa Shell Cleaning
Most materials used in cleaning the spas can be maintained as long as you know how to care for these items.

The effect of hydrotherapy in easing various minor body pains is well known and accepted. Many people go to the trouble of regularly visiting spas because of the reinvigorated feeling after just a 10 minute session. In hydrotherapy, the buoyancy of the swirling water, the water temperature and the pressurized water from the jets combine to ease the tired muscles and body pains.

Making time to visit spas is an admirable health habit but there are people who for various reasons just don’t have the time. Some good advice to get the benefits of a whirlpool spa is to convert the ordinary bath tub at home into a whirlpool bathtub. This would be very convenient for the users since there shall be no need to go out and visit a spa.

Before buying the needed parts and accessories to convert the ordinary bath tub into a whirlpool spa, make sure to check that there is no need to move the bath tub from its present spot. Take measurements to be sure that there will be enough space.

There are whirlpool jet systems for any bath tub, like fiberglass, acrylic, marble, even steel or cast iron.

A whirlpool bath tub has a motorized circulation system where air and water are sprayed through four to eight jets for an active massaging action. To convert the ordinary tub to a whirlpool bath tub, the appropriate capacity of a water pump and hydro jets must be added. The tools and parts needed to convert an ordinary bathtub into a whirlpool bath tub are available at many retailers and can be done by the bath tub owner.

Another accessory to be added is the water heater, to maintain the water temperature to be ready to use at any time needed. The warmth of the water is a major factor in the healing effects of the whirlpool.

There are accessory retailers who sells a complete set. An advantage is that there is less confusion since all the needed parts are picked out as part of a kit. A disadvantage is that the bath tub owner may pay for parts that they already have.

The conversion of an ordinary bathtub into a whirlpool spa is worth serious consideration since it is to the benefit of the owner to regularly avail of the healing effects of a whirlpool spa.
